The Corona Pony League 13-14 All-Star baseball team is headed to the World Series in Washington, PA.

Corona edged Northern California representative Campbell, 12-10, on Tuesday to win the West Zone tournament. Corona had earlier knocked Campbell into the elimination bracket with a 9-7 victory.

Corona, which won district, section, region and super region tournaments to reach the zone tournament, received a first-round bye and will make its debut at the World Series Sunday at noon (Pacific) against the winner of Saturday's game between Chesterfield Co., Virginia and Medina Valley, Texas.

The 10-team double-elimination tournament includes U.S. zone champions, two host teams and three international teams: West Tokyo, Japan; Hermosillo, Mexico, and Bayamon, Puerto Rico.

WJPA radio will stream live broadcasts of all the World Series games.

base64 encoding c

Base64 encoding was originally designed to allow lossless data passing between 8-bit and 7-bit systems. The primary example of its usage is in email, which traditionally used 7-bit systems to transfer the email while those of us at home on our computers were using 8-bit systems. This became especially important with non-text email attachments, which would be encoded into MIME base64 and sent along to the destination.

More recently, base64 encoding has gained popularity for its usage in data URIs. For those unaware, data URIs are a way of embedding files inside of HTML and CSS. One of the supported data URI formats is base64.

Base64 encoding is still used frequently in programming, primarily for obfuscation but also for safe data transport. While some browsers have native base64 encoding and decoding, this functionality isn’t defined in any standard nor commonly available in all browsers. The YUI 3 Gallery Base64 module provides a common implementation of base64 ...

Well, we've hit the final stretch. September 1st has now come and gone, and the following players were called up yesterday for those of you looking for that last little boost or a good keeper for next season:

  • Yonder Alonso
  • Desmond Jennings
  • Brandon Allen
  • Mat Gamel
  • Freddie Freeman
  • Brad Hawpe
  • Jenrry Mejia
  • Nolan Reimold
  • Chris Nelson

Now, not all of these players are clearly going to help all that much for this season, but if you're in a keeper league where they go onto waivers when they get called up, then you should definitely look into most of them. Another nice one to see, but with very little fantasy impact, is that the Rays also called up Rocco Baldelli.

Ian Kinsler was also activated from the disabled list yesterday, and if you've been holding him this long, it's probably time to insert him into the lineup. I don't trust him, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't with the righ...

Fred talked about if he believes he will be the starting running back going into Week 1, getting done with the grind of the preseason, if he ever wonders what if he didn't miss so many games due to injury over his career, if he feels an obligation to be a mentor to the younger RBs, his thoughts on Belichick calling passing plays on third-and-short, and played some word association on the other Patriots RBs, Tom Brady, and Troy Brown

Stephen talked about the preseason finally coming to an end, running sprints yesterday with Tom Brady before the game, if he actually wanted to play in the final preseason game, how much the team is missing Logan Mankins, what happens on the offensive line when the snap count goes wrong, what has been his experiences working with Alge Crumpler, and who is the strongest member of the Pats defense he's lined up against

It has been a while since I published Part 1 of the Essbase Studio Tutorial by Example. Finally a quick follow-up to the original that I promised I would get out - a  second part on adding drill-through capability - is available.  This document has been sitting around for a while.  I’ve been swamped and with the not too long ago release of EPM 11.1.2 I wanted to at least get this document out while it is still relevant.

If you haven’t already, please read the full OTN article here as a pre-requisite to conducting part 2 of this tutorial series.

Please see the link towards the bottom of this post to download part 2 of the tutorial (PDF).

Let me know if you have any feedback.

We don't follow Japanese baseball, but Hiroshima outfielder Masato Akamatsu's nimble, ninja-like snag off the center field wall can not be ignored. Akamatsu's dazzling martial arts tactics cheated Yokohama's Shuichi Murata out of a home run. It's like a sequence out of Quentin Tarantino fight scene, not a baseball game. Check it out after the jump.

Gotta give him an "A" for hustle.

I’m talking about, waking up tomorrow and telling every player in baseball that the maximum amount of money they can make per year is 100,000. Tell me some key names that you think would still play and tell me some names that will be the first to quit.

Buy the book: Rosenblatt Stadium: Omaha's Diamond on the Hill

Dick McCoy will hold a special distinction among the thousands of people who will turn out Thursday night for a final baseball farewell to Rosenblatt Stadium.

Not only was McCoy at the first game, he played in it.

Then 19, McCoy pitched the final two innings for a team made up of professional players in the inaugural game at Omaha Stadium Oct. 17, 1948. The professionals beat a team of Omaha sandlot stars 11-3.

“I still have the box score from the game. My wife saved it all these years,” said McCoy, now 81. “I had just finished up my first year of pro baseball.

“It was quite an experience for me to have a chance to play with major leaguers like Marty Marion and Richie Ashburn. It was the highlight of my career at that point.”

Another Omahan, Jim Karabatsos, also got a chance to play for the professional team that day.<...
